At St. John's we welcome those who believe a lot, a little, or are seeking. We embrace you as a whole person, your questions, complexities and all. 

We welcome everyone just as Jesus did. 

We are CHRISTIAN!

We strive to follow the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth given to us in the holy scriptures. We cherish and wrestle with our baptismal faith outlined in the Apostle's Creed, and we radically celebrate the love and grace of God given to us in the sacraments of baptism and communion. 

This makes us Christian. 

We are LUTHERAN! 

We are a member congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America the largest Lutheran denomination in the United States and the Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod of the ELCA. 

This makes us Lutheran. 

We are PROGRESSIVE Protestant! 

We embrace our Protestant Reformation roots which call us to be people of change and reform for the sake of the church and society. The Latin word 'protestari'--means to make public protest, or reform and this tenant is at the heart of who we are as decedents of the Protestant Reformation. 

This makes us Progressive Protestant.
